The status in the app does not change from closed to open. The garage door opens when I press the button in the phone but does not change the status. It just says “Open” all the time. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for your question. The sensor consists of an emitter and a receiver. The receiver senses an object when it sees a reflected light from the emitter. If the door status is open all the time, the sensor may see a light of the right wavelength all the time. Please check if there is a light source shining directly to the sensor and make adjustment. Another possibility is that the sensor may be too sensitive. You may make adjustment by turning the potentiometer inside the device. A Youtube video is available for instructions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3Li128GBlM). The sensor should detect an object when the object is closer than 2 inches.
There is a window in the garage at the back. I will try facing the unit away from the window. I have to admit that this does not make sense if the sensor is the reason given that it shows as “open” even at night and the garage is completely dark. Thank you for the reply! I will watch the YouTube video to see if that gives me a bit more information.
