Exclusive Auto Open Feature

With this feature enabled, your garage door will open automatically when you come home. It uses the GPS to detect home arrival. This feature is unique among similar products.

For this feature to work, check below:

  • Location service must be enabled in your phone.
  • This app is allowed to use GPS all the time (not just when the app is running).
  • The phone has cellular data service.
  • Battery saver should be disabled in your phone.
  • The app is running in the foreground or background.

Google Assistant (Hey Google) Compatible

This feature is available if you have Google Assistant installed in your phone. In Android App version 2.21 or later, the following commands are added to Google Assistant when you install our app:

  1. Status or Check Door or Door Status
  2. Open or Open Door or Open Garage Door
  3. Close or Close Door or Close Garage Door
There are 3 ways to express your command. The syntax to say a command is: “command” on Garage Controller. For example, the following 3 commands have the same effect:
  • Hey Google, Status on Garage Controller
  • Hey Google, Check Door on Garage Controller
  • Hey Google, Door Status on Garage Controller
Other examples:
  • Hey Google, Open on Garage Controller
  • Hey Google, Close Garage Door on Garage Controller

After you say a command, your phone will reply with “Opening Garage Door Controller GDC App” followed by the response from the app, for example:

  •  Opening Garage Door Controller GDC App, Door is Closed.

Siri Suggestions/Shortcuts

In iPhone App version 2.21 or later, the following Siri shortcuts are available:

  • Door Status
  • Open Door
  • Close Door

You can associate whatever words you want for each shortcut (command).  Here is a short video showing how to set it up. For older IOS versions (e.g. IOS12), click here for instructions.

Note: The app should be running the the background for these Siri shortcuts to work correctly.

Sensor Adjustment

All features depend on the GDC sensing the status of the garage door accurately. A couple of days after installing a GDC, the user should check if the GDC reports the door status correctly. Adjustment may be needed if it doesn’t. Because of vibration, the distance between the sensor and the trolley may change. Make sure the gap between the sensor and the trolley is less than 0.5 cm (1/4 inch). If masking tape was not used to provide a reflective surface, perhaps you need to add a masking tape to achieve consistent results.
